This 47-inch LCD has a 1920 x 1080 resolution and an 8-millisecond response time. Despite this product's lower price tag, it has a very generous input panel that includes four HDMI, two component video, and one PC input, as well as a single RF input to access the internal ATSC, NTSC, and Clear-QAM tuners. The HDMI inputs accept 1080p/60 but not 1080p/24. Vizio includes a lot of picture-in-picture options and a scaled-down program guide for the internal tuners. The TV does not include any additional media ports, such as USB or a card reader.

The GV47LF doesn't have an extensive amount of picture adjustments, but it allows for a solid amount of configuration for the price. There are four picture modes and four color-temperature settings, including a custom mode that contains global red, green, and blue adjustments to fine-tune white balance. The TV features four aspect-ratio options, one of which will display 1080p sources without overscan, but it does not do the same with 1080i sources.

The GV47LF has a detachable speaker bar that mounts to the bottom panel, as well as an integrated subwoofer. The audio menu features bass, level, and balance controls, plus a generic surround mode.

High Points
• The GV47LF renders an attractive high-definition image, with pleasingly natural color and excellent detail.
• Its excellent light output makes this TV a good fit for a brighter viewing environment.
• Four HDMI inputs and custom white-balance controls are not a given at this price.

Low Points
• The TV's black level is solid for an entry-level LCD, but it isn't as good as some step-up flat panels, so the picture doesn't look as rich and saturated in a dark room.
• It exhibits motion blur with faster-moving content.
• The viewing angle is average.

Conclusion
The GV47LF doesn't have as many advanced features as some pricier panels, but its input panel is thorough, and its performance is good. This TV is best suited for displaying high-def images in a brighter living room.
